recumbent Yet another post with a quick little info thingie from the fanbook. ^_^/
I didn't have time to scanlate the bios from it yet, but to make up for it, I make little informational posts when I am fangirling a particular thing from the book. XD

Today, I bring you the backstory of Shiki & Rima's meeting & relationship:
Rima was a huge fan of Shiki's mom as an actress, (which makes me wonder if she'd be terrible disappointed if she met her and saw how she is now, as the madness was progressively getting worse as Shiki grew up).
She actually became a model because she wanted to walk in the footsteps of Shiki's mom! :D
(Except it doesn't says why she ended up as a model rather than an actress... ^^/
This is how she ended up meeting Shiki, who'd also become a model. They met on the job and became inseparable. :D
Shiki became a model because he was scouted when going to see his mom while she was working as an actress. (It seems she still was one until recently, while he was growing up.)
And you might already know that, but since I'm making a post about them, here's some bio info:
■ Shiki is 16 years old, 173cm tall, and from a pro-council family. (His grand-uncle on his mom's side is one of the council elders.)
He's one of the youngest in the Night Class (at least among the main group), and is even shorter than Aidou.
■ Rima is 16 years old, 165cm tall, and from a pro-monarchy family. (Meaning pro-Kaname. And Rido had intended to murder her and her family for that, as he was siding with the council.)
The political positions of their families make their relationship even more interesting, because it's kind of a forbidden situation, one may say. (Whether it's love or friendship).
Well, not officially forbidden, but at least the older members of the community on either side would frown at the idea of the two being so close, especially the ones on the council's side, as far as we know.

But wow, the council-vs-monarchy family thing is interesting~ *___* I never thought of the purebloods as monarchs, though... wasn't that why the council was put into place? To stop them gaining too much power? [I think I'm channeling my history classes here o__o;;]

It's not the purebloods themselves, so much as that the Kuran family used to be the royal family. The council was set up, but some of the vampire families wish there was a monarchy. Aidou's family and some others are on Kaname's side and might wish he was king, which is why Ichiou called them "pro-monarchy" before.
The council was set up by the last Kuran king, who gave up the throne because he didn't want the power to be centralized in a single person. (His heir was Rido....... *LOL* Maybe that's why. XD)

I endlessly hesitate between shipping Shiki with her or with Takuma. I guess another threesome is needed. XD XD *lol*

There are sections of the fanbook where the fans sent questions to be "asked to the characters" (Meaning Hino-sensei wrote the answers the characters would have given to the questions XD), and Kaname had some awesome stuff.
One of the fans even asked "Would you ever consider the possibility of a romance with someone other than Yuuki? (for example, me!! (laughs))" (I bet the question was picked because lots of people sent that one, hahahaha XD)
Kaname answered "My arms exist for the sole purpose of holding that one person [Yuuki]. So, sorry, but I'm already taken..."

There was an older drama CD with little character profiles with the ages and heights etc, but the fanbook has more info. :D *wants to scanlate the bios when she has time* :D

Their relationship sounds a little Romeo and Juliet at the moment, but hopefully without the tragic ending.
What I want to know is, why did Shiki's mom get involved with Rido? He's clearly a bit of a bastard, she should have just turned that man down and been like "Nah, I'm cool."
He may be sublimly powerful but that is besides the point - a womans got to fight for her freedom :P

I don't think she was given much choice over the matter, considering he's a pureblood. :X (Just like Rido never asked Senri's permission to use his body until his own was regenerated.)
Considering the way things seem to work, her grand-uncle probably had the idea, and then asked Rido.
Just like Aidou's dad introduced Aidou's sister to Kaname, saying the clan would be delighted if he took a fancy for her... (Meaning, if he slept with her. XD;;; No one expects purebloods to marry someone of a lower rank, but to have a child with a pureblood means more powerful blood = more strength for that clan's bloodline, so they'd hope for breeding, even if the pureblood won't be around for the kid or the mom...)
It's not said openly, but what else could the vampire aristocrats have meant by "a pureblood's duty", that they claimed Kaname might have grown up enough to understand now, which they mentioned in volume 6, while they rushed to introduce their daughters of age to Kaname? ... it must be it, to give one's seed to strenghten the race, since otherwise they'd have weaker and weaker blood (hence why now there are so many lower rank vampires rather than nobles, since the nobles are just the ones with the stronger blood, due to breeding with purebloods and inheriting a bit of their power.)
It's probably how things were with Rido and Shiki's mom. (Of course, it's also totally possible that it wasn't like that and she just met Rido and fell for his charm. XD They didn't delve into her past, so we don't know.)
In Kaname's case however, he clearly only has eyes for Yuuki, and we know well he isn't going to have anything with Aidou's sister. ;D

Kaname's grandfather dissolved the monarchy and set up the council because he didn't want the power to be in the hands of only one person. (His heir was Rido... XD XD *lol*)
Now, there's a council. But some of the nobles are pro-Kuran, and wish the monarchy was reinstated, instead of this ill-intentioned council that manipulates everybody. Ichiou and the council wanted to make Kaname their puppet, and when they realized they couldn't use him at will, they struck against him.
Rima's family is among the ones who are not on the council side... which is why the council dislikes them.
Ichiou had in the past gotten rather annoyed because Kaname was getting closer to Aidou, and Aidou's family is the #1 on the pro-monarchy side. Ichiou feared Kaname would switch to them and want to regain the throne...
Basically, both sides want to use Kaname, maybe at least to a certain point. XD;; But the council side is worse.

Thank you so much for this little tidbit- I've always loved the ShikixRima couple, and now this possible forbidden love of theirs just makes them even hotter in my eyes! *fangirls endlessly, wanting to see a little more of the two cuddling*But then, it's interesting to think of what kind of power Kaname must hold over the vampire world, if even the pro-Council families sent their kids to school with him and agreed (on the face of it) to abide by the rules he laid down there. And now I'm coming to the conclusion that the real reason I want Zero to have Yuuki is because I want Kaname for myself *grins evilly*

You're welcome! :D I find it fangirlable too! X3As for that, the only pro-council families who sent their kids were Ichijou and Shiki, and they had their own agende, so it's not that they trusted him, they just wanted to spy on him/have Shiki there etc. XD;;;
All the other families were pro-monarchy, and delighted by the prospect of their kid being in school with Kaname of all people (something unthinkable in vampire society normally, since purebloods don't go mixing like that. In fact, Sara herself showed disapproval to the idea in volume 6, saying Kaname was "playing school", as if it was some weird unfathomable thing. XD *lol*
From what we saw before with Aidou's family, it looks like normally vampires have private teachers at home, and that Cross Academy is really exceptional...)
