I've been crazy busy lately so I haven't had much time to post updates on my searching, but as usual I was doing my monthly thing of running all over the place trying to get a shop selling early to get my hands on LaLa before the 24rth..... X3

And, as usual, here I am~! X3 *clings to LaLa magazine and its VK chapter lovingly*

I got LaLa early today but sadly didn't have time to come online until now. ^^;

As soon as I did have a moment though, I ran to scan this pretty pic...:

It's not as movemented as some previous chapters but it's still a pretty epic chapter for the first half of it (and oddly makes me ship Takuma x Sara XD; she's EPIC through part of it...evilly epic XD;;), and then the energy of it calms down a bit, but the second part is still lovely with some adorable moments with Aidou & Yuuki and then Kaname & Yuuki.

As a Zero x Kaname fan I squeeed softly at the brief scene of Kaname and Zero investigating the scene. 8D (More exactly, Kaname investigating while Zero stands sexily & watchfully behind him. *fangirl sigh of love for the two* X3)

VK's month in the calendar is October, so it has Halloween themes, with Kaname dressed as a vampire (8D *lol*), Yuuki as a chibi candy fairy of some sort, and Zero as a mummy king. XD (He has a crown and a king's mantle thing over the bandages! 8D) *urge to try to pull the bandages off* X3
We can't see high enough to see if Kaname would also have a crown as king of the vampires or what, but the idea of Zero wearing a crown appeals to me and my endless fic ideas having Kaname and Zero as kings of the vampires and the hunters etc. XD;

Both Kaname in his sexy vampiric clothes and Zero in his bandage-y mummy outfit are irresistible as usual, and Yuuki is so cute! X3

I only joined the VK fandom some time later, so I don't have the very first LaLas, but if my information is correct, in a little over a week, VK will hit the 5 years anniversary mark since the manga started running in LaLa. :D

(The five years anniversary for the 1st book release will be in July next year, but the magazine start would be the exact "birth" of the series. :D ♥
This is because VK started on the January 2005 issue of LaLa, and the January issue generally comes out in November the previous year in Japan (yeah, I know, it's a bit weird how it works for magazines XD), which means November 2004, so it will be five years November 24rth 2009. :D)

I checked the official sites in Japan, and as of now there's no official celebrations planned for the five years (;-; *whimpers*), but being the obsessed fan I am, I feel the need to mark the occasion, even though I'm still somewhat swamped right now... XD;

Would anyone be interested in celebrating too? :D

I was thinking we (the fandom as a whole, internationally) could do some sort of group project or something: As fans, we'd create fanworks (fanarts/fanfiction/amvs/etc.) to celebrate and show our love for VK, and post all our various creations on the 24rth, which is the official date for the magazine. X3

Or that week, in any case. X3 Especially for people doing more than one fanwork for the celebration.

People who don't draw or write fics etc. can always do other things, like bake a cake and decorate it with VK-reminding things, then take a pic of it all prettied up and post it as part of the celebration too. X3
(People who don't draw etc. tend to do things like that in japanese fandom festivals. :D That way you can still participate and show your love for the series even if you don't draw etc. ♥)

It's a bit like the birthday festivals, only we'd be celebrating VK as a whole, and by extension, each and all of our favorite characters, through the series anniversary. X3

If I can, I'll try and post something I'll do (pic or fic or small sketches if I lack enough time to draw more elaborate stuff XD;) each day of the week of the anniversary. X3

So what do you think/what will you do for the anniversary if you plan to celebrate it too? :D :D ♥

Vampire Knight fanart: Wings of a Butterfly

Kaname Kuran as the embodiment of a butterfly with its wings torn out...

I drew this as a metaphor for the way Kaname grew up under the control of the elders from the vampire council, forced to submit to their will for almost 10 years, to not risk the frail peace of Yuuki's 'boxed garden'...
So it's a pretty angsty pic, but I wanted to convey that metaphor through something that's both beautiful and haunting at once, such as a butterfly, but with its beauty and innocence (wings) torn out.

Just a quick post to say I updated my fic series "Cradle of Blood" (Yaoi, Zero x Kaname Hurt/Comfort/Romance fic, mature rating) with a new chapter. :D

Cradle of Blood - Chapter 22: “I’m not going to lose you tonight.”
Story summary:
AU. Ten years after the vampires lost the war, the world is ruled by the hunter supremacy and vampires are only kept alive to serve as pleasure slaves in brothels. Everyday is a nightmare for Kaname, until he meets a certain silver-haired hunter… ZxK KxZ

Please don't click if you're underage or dislike yaoi and/or dark themes in fanfiction. ^^;/ (CoB is a pretty dark AU fic, with a world that's rather brutal to vampires. ^^;;)

Otherwise, if you don't mind such themes etc. in fics, enjoy the chapter~! X3 ♥


Zero has started to realize just how irresistible Kaname is, and how dangerously close he himself is to doing something that might shatter the pureblood's trust in him... ^^;
And with the way they both view their current situation, neither of them is in the position to make any good decisions without possibly dramatic consequences. :X
Unless fate maybe takes things out of their hands and introduces a bit of an exterior element of surprise to throw things out of their slow hesitant wanderings... ;)

As you probably already know if you've read my previous posts that mentioned the subject, Hino-sensei has a private blog that she kept more or less secret for a while, and then that she wanted to mention officially in the free talks in VK but the publisher hasn't given the ok for that to be done yet, at least for now.

The blog itself is not much of a big deal for the fans usually, since she almost never ever mentions VK in it, and when she rarely does so, it's in such a brief manner that there's barely anything. (And as you already know if you've been following the series for a while, the secrecy around VK is quite something, so even when she does mentions something, of course it's never to reveal anything at all about the plot.)
However, from time to time there's a rare VK related entry or another (which I generally mention, so you don't have to worry about missing anything ;D), and the latest one is quite amusing. XD

Here it is. :D

She's showing snapshots of some bits of her "names" of older chapters, which is the manga equivalent of a storyboard.
(It's a page from the storyboard of the scene when Kaname and Zero talk in the underground jail, and then bits from the storyboard of Yuuki and Kaname's stairway scene.)

'Names/storyboards' are made and then showed to the editor prior to a mangaka proceeding to the actual drawing stage. (You can already see some of the VK ones in the fanbook as well, where Hino-sensei had also explained that early in the series, she used to make it much more detailed, but as time passed it became more and more often semi-stick-figure storyboards. XD XD *lol*)

In the blog post, she explains that because Kaname is the #1 most-difficult-to-draw character, she always ends up rushing/simplifying him in the storyboards. So while at some point or another they're all drawn as just a ball + a body, Kaname gets that treatment more often than the others due to his hard-to-draw hair etc. XD

So underneath the images from the storyboards, she posts "alternate lines", in which the characters talking to him (Zero in the first part, then Yuuki in the other one) are not saying the original lines from those chapters, but instead stuff like Kaname...? Is that really you...? Your face is just drawn like a circle... and so on. XD XD


For anyone interested in the exact lines, here they are translated for you: :D
The first scene is Zero from chapter 39/volume 8, and he'd normally be talking to Kaname who came to see him in the underground cell, about the Rido-wanting-to-devour-Yuuki-issue etc., but in the blog post, Hino-sensei instead had Zero saying "...Ah?! ...Are you really Kaname Kuran...?!" (And Hino-sensei points out that the circle with the "Ka" on it on the lower right is indeed Kaname, unrecognizable as it may be. XD XD *lol*)

The next two images are what was originally the storyboard for, according to Hino-sensei, "Yuuki & Kaname's transcending stairway scene", but unlike the original touching aspect of the scene in the manga, in the comical version in the blog post Yuuki stares off at the stick-figure Kaname and goes "Huh... is that oniisama over there...? It says 'Kaname' on the circle/face, but..." and then in her smiling next image, she goes "...Yeah, I think it's oniisama, maybe...! You really get mercilessly simplified a lot in the storyboards because you're the hardest to draw, don't you, oniisama?"

In the last image of the post, Hino-sensei drew something that wasn't in the scene, to have Kaname pulling on Yuuki's cheek in retaliation for her comments about his face being simplified by the author in the storyboards. XD XD *lol* (And Yuuki is sweatdropping and saying "... Kaname-hyama... uhrm..." because she can't speak properly with him pulling on her cheek. XD XD *LOL*)


The thing with Kaname tugging at Yuuki's cheeks is not from any chapter, so most likely Hino-sensei just drew it for the post for fun, as an add-on to the alternate lines of the post, although I'd be so amused and happy if it turned out that she might do something about that in the little comical bonuses of volume 11, since we don't know yet what extras she'll be doing for it!! *___*

I'll be equally or even more delighted if Hino-sensei does a parody of the Zero & Kaname scene in the underground cell as well. ♥ (A parody hinting at the wonderfully ♂ ｘ ♂ XD anime underground scene from season one would have me ecstatic too.) But maybe I'm hoping too much. XD

Well, whatever the bonuses of volume 11 are, I'm sure they'll be awesome, and I'm so hoping for anything with Zero & Kaname, or with the trio together. X3 *severely missed the three interacting with each other for so many months, and was so delighted tht Zero finally at least talked to the two in chapter 55.♥♥♥
It was brief and it wasn't happy-talk at all, but I was so happy that he was talking to them, at least. XD;; *helpless fan, bounces in joy at reunited trio* XD♥


And for anyone having missed my post with chapter 55, which also mentioned that, please don't forget that volume 11 will be coming out on December 4rth in Japan, so if you collect the series in Japanese, do please buy the book to support VK and its author~! X3 ♥

If you follow the series in another language, please make sure to also keep picking up your local official releases of the books, so that the series can go on being alive and doing well~! ♥ ♥ ♥

And please beware of pirated releases, both of books and of DVDs! ^^;;;

I was planning on catching up with the Halloween piccies I wanted to finish but ended up not having the time to d them all before Halloween.
(I did however have the time to carve a mini-VK-pumpkin again this year~!<3 You might have seen the one I did last year. X3
When I find a moment, I'll resize and post the piccies I took of the new mini pumpkin. :D)

So, I had plans to draw some innocent Halloween cuteness, but... Blackened Wing updated her fic, and so naturally my Muses exploded in the usual torrential waterfalls of nosebleeding, and as a result, no innocent pics got done, hahaha~ XD

However, our fellow pervy yaoi fans will probably enjoy the results of the VK yaoi boost. X3

(Watch out for bootlegs, the anime pirated DVDs are made with stolen subs usually AND are generally of horrible quality. Please make sure to only buy the official DVDs and books, otherwise you're not supporting VK since the money goes to bootleggers instead of to the author etc. ^^;;;)

It's important. D: Any series dies without support, and VK may be popular, but it's popular for a shojo manga series, which means not that much compared to big shonen manga blockbusters. We have to support the series we love, as all series die without support. ^^;/

:DD ♥ LALA IS HERE~<3

I've had the magazine since early friday, but was terribly swamped all day and couldn't come online to mention it before. ^^; orz

You might have already seen preview pics of it online, but since I'm sure people also want to know what's being said etc. in the chapter, I'll be writing a brief summary of the important points/things said in the chapter (there are some epic revelations... *-*).

And, of course, I'll also scan etc as I can find moments to do so. X3


This post is just to let you know you can expect the summary post today at least, for people wanting to know what's being said in the chapter etc, and who don't mind spoilers. X3

Yuuki is REALLY taking initiative as a pureblood and standing for her beliefs. (Albeit, err, it would be better to do so without endangering others by taking them along. ^^;)
Kaname is still trying to protect her as much as possible (the chairman does the same throughout the chapter too, maybe even more epically so in one point XD;;;), but he'll probably have more trouble at it since she wants to go for the action and all. ^^;
Zero had various moments of fangirlable angst throughout the chapter. *tears out hair at his refusal of something I had bounced with moe when Aidou mentioned it* ;0;


All in all, there's some delightful moe for both sides of the fandom, as Zero & Yuuki are on the cover of this month's magazine (and Zero is EPICALLY sexy in it, as in, even more than usual XD<333), and Zero & Kaname & Yuuki are on the 2010 calendar, which will come free with LaLa next month. (On the back cover you can only see the K&Y part, but in a different preview I found elsewhere you see Zero is in it too~!<3)
We get a super tiny preview of that pic, as well as one of an uber sexy pic of Kaname laying on his back on cushions, advertising the next chapter and looking SO VERY irresistible.<333

Inevitably, my Zero x Kaname yaoi fangirling always pops back up in the middle of my fangirling the trio. XD *lol*
And hey, [SPOILERS for 55]: in this chapter Kaname tried to arrange for Yuuki to be able to meet Zero too, not just Yori!! (But unfortunately Zero went and refused to go and see her. T_T)
And Zero talked to Kaname for a moment at a different point~!<3 (As you can see, I take whatever crumbs I can in my fangirling of ZxK. XD;; *lol* *suffered much through the months of no interaction between them* XD)

Okay, so, I haven't slept in a while (I last slept wednesday, if you don't count briefly napping in moving vehicles XD;) and I'm loaded with deadlines for this week-end, so this will be less rambly/less long summary than usual. ^^;
(Also, for that same reason, the scanlated chapter won't come out as fast as usual this month. ^^;
Normally, you'd have it the next day after I buy the magazine, so in this case it would be sometime during saturday, but this month, chances are you'll have it sometime next week instead, unless I unexpectedly clear out my RL deadlines faster than expected and get enough sleep first. XD;
(That and having over family I haven't seen in ages and miss a lot, so, well, I'm sure you all understand that I want to spend some time awake with them. XD;; *lol*)


Still, it should be pretty soon that I'll be able to scanlate it, so don't worry. ^^/

And a little announcement: VK volume 11 will be out in Japan on December 4rth, so anyone interested in getting them online or in any shops can start going for it soon if you go for pre-orders or anything. :D

We've been extremely lucky with so many gorgeous covers, and it seems Hino-sensei is being careful to satisfy the fans of all the pairings as much as possible, so recently we've had KxY in volume 8, the trio together in 9, Yori x Yuuki the girls in 10, and so volume 11 must be Zero x Yuuki's turn to have a pretty new cover, because the magazine announces the two will be in the cover of 11th book. :D

No previews yet, so dunno if it will be more close or more dramatic, but since it's Hino-sensei we already know it will be beautiful howevere it is. :3

*can't wait for the volume, hopes there will be more extra little bonuses of comical thingies etc. too* X3

So, as you can see, even though there wasn't any fighting in the chapter itself (well, that was shown, that is XD;), it's definitely keeping us on the edge of the seat! XD;

And one of the 'next chapter preview' images mentioning that Sara 'holds the key' to the two incidents (Ouri's and the hunter's) really doesn't helps alleviate the epic cliffhangery feeling of 'this will be a long wait until the next chapte!' XD;; *lol*

Personally, I have tons of theories about what might happen etc., but I wonder if perhaps Ouri might be alive and planning something (it seems too easy that he died before we even really saw much of him... in this chapter you see a brief view of him from behind. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of him in the future and Hino-sensei is only distracting us with Sara and she's allied with him (Ouri and Sara are fiances after all, even though her crush is for Kaname, much to Kaname's dismay and past refusal(s). XD *lol*)

In any case, once thing is sure. X3 We have many interesting things waiting ahead in the manga.

And I so glad to see Zero talk to Yuuki, and then later to Kaname, even if it was so brief with both. And even though it was just to rebuke them both... XD; *lol* Well, I cling to even crumbs of interaction between them, and can only hope that such contacts, even if brief and all, might help melt his 'armor' and slowly maybe get him to stop trying to lock Yuuki and all out of his heart. ^^;




I have to go back to my deadline things and stuff now, so, sorry if the summary is a bit messy or infested with typos since I didn't have time to check much, but, well, as soon as I have slept AND have enough time, I'll be scanlating VK. :) *has already scanned the page during the breaks she took* XD

Until then, which won't be that long even if it is longer than my 'next day thing' of usual, well, I guess there's the summary and maybe my recent fanarts to poke at while waiting for the chapter. XD; *lol*

Some quick news. ^^/
If you keep an eye on my LJ and looked through the talk in the comments in the previous entry, you might have already seen that I mentioned that I might be able to get LaLa early from a different shop today (it's only going to be officially out for sale saturday, the 24th).
Well, sadly my contact in the shop messed up in the end and they won't get their delivery until the day before (this friday). ^^;

So I should still be able to get the magazine earlier than the official release date, but only a day earlier than it this month. (There have been months where I've managed to buy it up to 5 days or so before the actual release date. 8D; *lol*)

As for Chinese forums etc., as of now there's no previews or scans or anything in the asian forums yet either.
For a great part this is due to the fact that it's becoming less and less frequent for the asian fans to upload raws regularly, because too many people have stolen the scans, and so as a result people in places that get LaLa early got fed up of wasting time, money and effort buying and scanning only to have people not respect them by stealing the scans. ^^;
So many forums restricted membership, and less and less people scan, because they're so tired of people stealing their scans and redistributing without asking permission or anything. ^^;
It's inevitable that contributors get fed up, and I really hope the people who steal stuff will learn to ask (or better even, buy their own LaLa) and respect people who contribute to fandoms, because it's very tiresome for the people contributing money, time and effort and having others just grab it all and run off without so much as a word. ^^;

And, well, cutting the long story short:
When I have my LaLa magazine in hands (or earlier if I end up reading the chapter before that), I'll be doing a little summary of things when I can find time, like I usually do, and I'll be scanning as usual as well.
The only thing is, as you might have noticed from my slow posting rate lately, I'm terribly busy this month, so it will be slower, but you'll still have the chapter in English as usual. :)


And meanwhile, I leave you with a little fanart of the Kiryuu twins in chibi mode, which I drew the other day while having a VK moment to cool off between stuff I had to do. :)

I had this comical mind image of Ichiru looking mischievous and Zero looking like trick-or-treating with his brother was nightmarish, and I just HAD to draw it. XD;
It's in a different style for the eyes/expression because it's how I imagined, for added comical effect. ^^

Background story for the pic:

Zero hated trick-or-treating each year. If the ridiculous costumes Ichiru insisted on them wearing weren't bad enough, the younger Kiryuu twin had a tendency to keep all the candy and leave Zero with an empty bucket...

In my fangirling of Zero x Kaname etc., I like to think the Kurans will share their candy with Zero after Ichiru runs off with the bucket the twins collected. XD *lol*

On retrospect, I forgot to draw the whiskers on their kitty suits. :-/ Oh well.

If you've been around for a few months and like fluffy AU stuff, you might remember an AU story idea I had some time ago for VK, and that I'd named "Innocent Paradise" because it was a retelling of VK with peace earlier on between vampires and humans, and the Kuran children growing up with Zero, all three being best friends since an early age. :3
It was all fluffy and cuddly, and anyone feeling like it was (and is still!♥) welcome to write or draw stuff based on that plot thingie, something that to my delight spawned various adorable artworks and a bit of fanfiction as well. :D

Well, the total lack of time made that it took forever until I went back and colored the sketch I did of it when I made my post about that AU idea, but I can finally bring you a color version of my "Innocent Paradise" pic. X3

In the AU idea, Zero and Yuuki are pretty protective of little Kaname because Rido had still done the ancestor awakening thing, and so sometimes Kaname has issues with it, like headaches and flashes of memories he couldn't understand etc., (as you can see him having problems with the memories in canon VK as well, like in chapter 48. But since the AU idea is all fluffy, the other two know about it and are all supportive and nearby. In the AU, little Zero actually wants to become a powerful hunter so he can protect both Yuuki and Kaname, but also to avenge little Kaname of whatever Rido did to him. XD)

As my beloved OTP inevitably is Zero x Kaname, I imagine that once they're older/grow up and all, they'll probably become a couple first, and then Yuuki being a bit younger it will take some time before she joins the other two in that too. Resulting in lovely OT3 eventually. X3
*has all sorts of cute mind images for it, might write it as a ficlet sometime* :3

Zero seems bigger in the pic because of the position and more also because the way I imagine it, since he's a human child and the son of hunters, he runs around a lot and might already be in some sort of preparatory training of sorts or something, while Yuuki is younger and Kaname hasn't hit the vampiric growth spur of puberty times yet, and is a bit small for his age due to being naturally that way and also a quiet kid who doesn't do much running outside... XD<3 So they look like they are about the same age even though Kaname is one year older.

Well, Kaname doesn't do much running outside, unless Zero is over of course! XD
In which case all three of them are happily running around in the gardens of the Kuran manor, playing hide-and-seek together or trying to catch bugs/butterflies and play with the flowers (little garlands of it to put on each other's hair etc. XD<3), do all sorts of adorably fluffy stuff, and so on. X3
Until the two little purebloods get worn down from running around and playing, snuggle up to Zero and forget that their friend is not like them, accidentally 'drinking' some of his energy (little vampire children do that before their fangs grow, if you remember volume 6 of the manga X3) and causing Zero to cutely pass out for a bit, much to the worry of his parents. XD *lol*

But little Zero doesn't mind, and actually secretly intends to become a vampire when he grows up, so that he can always be with his beloved friends. X33

In this AU idea, there's no attack from Shizuka against the Kiryuu family (all thanks to Rido being caught and judged, then held in captivity instead of released by a corrupt council to murder the people the council wanted to get rid of like it was in the manga), and there's also no issues with Ichiru since he meets Shizuka when little, gets a huge crush on her, and is far too busy trying to woo her in each of his vacations, so he totally doesn't minds what his parents or the association think, and is fine with Zero's closeness with the two little Kurans. XD
If anything, him and little Maria compete for Shizuka's attentions, and spend their vacations with her pestering her to give them attention. XD (While little Zero spends his vacations at the Kuran manor. X3)

It's fluff all around, and I'll probably draw other piccies from this AU little universe when I find time. :)
(I'm terribly busy this month, so don't be surprised if I'm also terribly slow on message/PM/comments replying. ^^; Sorry!)

The urge to write/draw more of that fluffy universe grows more each time I talk about it, the fluffiness is so much fun. X3

And onto "Cradle of Blood" news, I'm trying to find time to update, but I'm not sure when the current chapter of the fic will be ready...*hopes for this week-end, but doesn't thinks it will be ready on time due to current lack of time* ^^;

This is a chapter FULL of political stuff with the whole things about how the vampire society society functions and so many vampires popping up saying one thing and meaning another, but there are also delightful scenes with some of our favorite characters as well as angsty scenes with others of our favorite characters... (and as usual, both Zero and Kaname are strikingly gorgeous, but then, that's hardly something new, right...? XD XD *lol*)



It's inevitable that different people support different pairings, even more passionately since it's a story with a love triangle, but it's no reason to bash one or the other. ^^;;/

Some events of this chapter might make people blow a fuse at Zero or even at Yuuki for the way a certain scene happened, and there's always people expecting the worse from Kaname no matter what happens, so inevitably, I fear people will bash one, two or even all three of them. ^^;;;

PLEASE don't ruin other fans' enjoyment of the chapter and of the fandom experience. ^^;
Please don't bash in any comments here, although of course, not bashing anywhere at all would make the fandom the happiest. ♥

As you already know if you read my scanlated chapter 53 of VK last month, the next chapter, VK54, will be out in Japan on the 24th. ^^/

That's the official release date, the date on which all japanese shops normally put the magazine out in the shelves for sale (some places vary a bit), either because they just received it or because it was shipped a few days before and then they pull it out of the storage room, depending on the cases.
The magazine is generally shipped to various places selling it, a few days early, hence why it arrives in China before the official release date... now, where the Chinese fans of VK are really lucky, is that most chinese shops put it for sale as soon as they get it, resulting in it being out for sale about 2 days earlier than in Japan, or in some cases where it's shipped extra earlier, even more.

Shipping speed and who is willing to sell something that's not officially supposed to be for sale yet (;D), makes that the actual date when it's possible to get one's very motivated hands on the magazine can vary a bit from the actual release date.
Last month, for example, I managed to get at the magazine so early that I had it in hands before it was out in China, for example.
This has happened in the past too, but generally China has it a tidbit earlier. In any case, it varies.

Err, so, we got lucky last month, but this month they have it before I could manage to get it. XD;;

I just spent quite a while running around all over the place trying to find a shop where I can go and buy the magazine before it's "officially" out (the one I got it at last month won't be able to do it this month), and well, not yet. XD;;


So, last month I had it exceptionally crazy early, even before it was shipped & out in China, but like I was saying, it's never a certain thing. ^^;

If all goes well, you can expect VK 54 scanlated in English this next-week though, so it should be just a little bit longer left for you to wait for. :)




Someone in China, who got the magazine already, took some photos of a few pages of the chapter as a preview, so I wrote a bit of a summary for those pages. ^^/

It's not all pages from a same chunk of the chapter, it's scattered ones, as the person taking the pics skipped various parts of the chapter (you can see bits of pages on the sides that are no in the preview), and it's just a small portion of the chapter too, so we have no idea yet what happens in the rest of it, but it's quite interesting already~!!

( Mini-summary + translations of the preview portion this way. (+Also lots of commentary/ramblings. XD) )

The last page of the preview is Yori complaining to Zero about interrupting her chance to go see Yuuki... and Zero is explaining that "the woman who was going to 'help' you is-" ... and it cuts there. XD;;;


It just cuts there because the preview stops there, btw. ^^/ There's still all the rest of the whole chapter, since the preview was just some various pages.
The preview is pages covering this part of the chapter, but missing other pages in between as well, so we don't know exactly how far it goes or how long the scenes that were in-between were.

But don't worry, if all goes well, soon enough I'll have my LaLa, and make a little additional post on it. And then, there will be the scanlation in English also soon enough, so, stay tuned~! :D ♥

Ohhh, what a horribly frustrating missed chance. XD;;

Okay, so as I've mentioned before, depending on a number of factors sometimes it can vary when LaLa is delivered to each shop, (and wheter or not it's possible to get it from some places early and all, of course). So, I'd managed to secure myself one at a shop which I hadn't gone to before, and the guy told me when the LaLas would be there and all.

I went to pick it up today, at the day and hour he said, only to find out he'd messed up, and my poor LaLa had actually arrived a day earlier than he'd said.
The lovely LaLa pile was sitting there since yesterday, waiting for me.... ;-; *clings to it, pats the poor little magazine who'd been waiting there* ;-; XD;;

I'm frustrated about it because I spent so much of yesterday tearing at my hair for not having it in hands yet (well, I had already read the raw by then, but still, holding your own LaLa in hands is always such a different feeling XD), and I could have had it since yesterday morning if I'd known, auuugh. T-T *frustration*
I'm kicking myself for not have checked again, but then, the guy had confirmed the date and all... D:

Which means I could have it all scanlated already by now, if I'd gotten it yesterday... (Don't throw rocks at me, throw them at the guy who said the wrong day. XD *lol*)

In any case, I am currently scanning, cleaning, scanlating etc. :D

✖ On second look, the source of the angst is deeper and more sad, as you realize he's clinging to his mom's hand and she's pulling away. XD;;

Needless to say, the hands belong to Juri on the left and Haruka on the right.



Spoilery ramblings, skip if you follow the foreign book releases instead of the magazine:

I always got the feeling Haruka was far more accepting of Kaname than Juri. Of course, she loves him too, but.. she always kinda joked around and picked on him in a way that occasionally made him feel bad. ^^;
Whereas she's always been so extremely sweet to Yuuki in contrast. :S
Maybe it's inevitable, because even though she likes Kaname, she can't help but remember that the child that came out of her womb died, and this child didn't... and is there standing in the place of her dead child.
Even though it's not little Kaname's fault in any way, that's gotta be a powerful feeling for a mother. ^^;;

And so, my mind is infested with plot bunnies....


Edit, to add some info for whomever doesn't minds spoilers but doesn't quite remembers volume 8 since it's been a while. XD;
◆ Kaname isn't Yuuki's real brother, he said so to Zero in the chapter where Yuuki returns to her pureblood self.
◆ And, Kaname is not really Haruka & Juri's son, but they raised him as if he was. (As for Yuuki, she grew up knowing only Kaname since she was a baby, so for her who-is-who won't change anything.)
The Kuran couple counted him as being their son, so you can treat it as if he was an adopted child, since for all purposes it pretty much works the same.
The vampire society knew nothing and thought he was their normal son. Ichiou & co. knew about it all though. (Presumably from Rido.)
◆ There's still a lot of mystery over the Kuran backstory, so we don't know the details of what Rido did and all, but that much is known from volume 8 etc. ^^/
(So, Kaname might be the ancestor reborn in a younger body of himself, [perhaps because there wasn't much flesh left to awaken/regenerate in his coffin, after the first hunters presumably ate his flesh, which is also a possibility], OR he might be the ancestor's soul put into the body of Haruka & Juri's child, whom we know Rido killed. We have tons of things to wonder about until Hino-sensei reveals it. :D)

A lot of people go around saying "Kaname is the ancestor's soul inside the body of Yuuki's brother" as if that was The Truth, but that's 100% fan-made, as of now. It's a theory fans came up with, like any other idea we can have.
It might turn out that this theory is true, (it's quite possible), but it could just as well turn out it's not the case, so for now we don't know yet. ^^/

This pic is based on one of her fics, in which the roles are reversed and Kaname is the pureblood turned human, with Zero as his pureblood protector.

It turns out Zero has fun teasing Kaname, and one of those instances involves a little Kaname having to wear a dress with cute bunny ears... something that Kaname finds most embarrassing and annoying, much to Zero's amusement of course. XD *lol*
(Zero finds that Kaname is hilarious and adorable when he looks all angry and blushy. XD)

As with all fandoms that grow, VK is constantly plagued with unfounded rumors about stuff supposed to happen in the future or supposed to have happened in the past in the manga etc. (Maybe because with the chapters being one month apart each time, people get impatient to know what's in the next chapter, and often forget what was in the previous ones. ^^;)

Some of the rumors are nonsensical, but some are vague enough that people believe them and pass them on until they spread on and on. ^^;

As usual, I debunk them in posts here when I hear of them. (Usually because people PM me to confirm if something they heard is true or not, or in some cases because I happen upon a rumor while wandering the net.)

Sometimes I can even trace where it started and how it progressed, from different PMs of different people who saw it in different sites/threads/etc. XD
It might even have been amusing for some of the more nonsensical/funny-sounding rumors, but when it's just stuff that's annoying by making people all worried if it's true or not as the rumor spreads, it's never fun. :-/

And since sometimes I have a lot of PMs and take forever to reply to them (sorry, btw to all of you waiting for replies! ^^;; *wills catch up with PM/comment/mail/etc replying sometime*), I thought I'd make a post to debunk a few of the rumors that are recent and/or currently running. ^^/

I don't usually do manga colorings because I generally prefer to do fanarts instead (I find it's more fun to actually create a fanart picture rather than just color in something official, and I also tend to feel bad about screwing up the gorgeous original art by coloring it ^^;), but I was feeling oddly in the mood for just coloring something for once, and so I defiled the poor picture beneath:

And the most important, please support the series and buy the official books (and official DVDs), and steer clear of bootleg DVDs and other things that hurt the series. ^^;;

I was horrified to find out that more and more places carry bootleg VK DVDs. T_T

Please don't fall for that thievery, they're selling stolen fansubs most of the time (making money with fans' free work done for love is despicable), and either way, bootleg DVDs are horrible quality and terribly hurt a series' sales, reducing the likelihood of more anime being made for the series in the future.
(Because the companies take the decision to make or not make more anime based on DVD sales etc., and so, if people are buying the bootlegs instead of the official DVD releases, then there's less sales and the series is not supported... which results of course in the companies not being able to make more anime of it. ^^;

They're businesses, they can only continue surviving and pay their employees if we ALL do our part by supporting the series we love and the companies that make them. ^^/

People tend to say "only the japanese market matters", but that's not true, we must all do our part. And it does has quite the influence.
I could go on and explain more in detail how foreign DVD sales have led japanese companies to produce new OVAs for other series in the past, or how the widespread anime downloads off the net and DVD bootlegs have made that japanese companies are increasingly afraid to license anime to foreign countries and so on, but that would deserve a post all by itself and this one is already getting long. ^^; *lacks time*)

I've posted earlier my first adoptable mini virtual VK relationship companion thingie, in the previous post as you might have already seen. ^^/

I wanted to post pics of the stages because in the tiny version it's hard to see the details, but.....if I post it in the same post, then there's no point since it will spoil completely the fun of waiting to see what the stages look like as the pets evolve... XD;;

So I'm posting it in a separate post, that way, if someone wants to see they can, and if they don't want to be spoiled, they can skip and wait to see after their pets levelled up. ;)

Okay, so, I'm an obsessive creature who just spent several hours slaving away to finish this soon, due to being obsessed by the virtual pets etc. at the moment. XD;;;

On the good side, the fandom gets to have it sooner as a result. X3


And so, the first mini virtual relationship companion thingie is ready to be adopted~! ♥

Since with the animated computer mascots last year, I started with Kaname and am currently still working on Zero, this time I'm releasing a Zero x Yuuki first. ^^/ That way both sides of the fandom are happy. :D
(And if I see any bashing after all this... T^T *heart will break after so much effort to make both sides happy* :X)

So, whoever wants to adopt the Zero x Yuuki virtual companion thingie, can do so now~! ^__^/ (It's free and doesn't requires having an account on the site or anything. :D)

You just have to create it, and then you can take the code it will give you and paste it in your profile page, signature or whatever blog post etc. where you want to have your ZxY living on. :D

You can click once a day to level them up (and/or have your friends click too :D), and as they go, you'll be seeing the additional stages. X3

The bloody mess on the ground is to look vampiric etc., btw. XD;;;;;
Yuuki has blood on her because, of well, who/what she is, and Zero has blood also due to his past and who he is now and all.
I swear no one poked the eggs or anything of the such. XD;;;; The blood is not oozing our of the eggs or anything like that. XD XD *lol*

Originally, I was going to have the first stage be little pureblood Yuuki with her pigtails and rabbit plushie, plus little Zero with little Ichiru clinging to him, but after drawing part of it I realized that it was pretty much invisible in the final size T_T (the size they have to be made at is pretty small), and so I changed it to eggs since when they were small they didn't know each other anyway so it works better canonically too. ^^/

It's also a pity that we're limited to png files, because if we could use gif, I'd totally have them blinking etc. *_*
But it can't have animations, so oh well. :X


The stages of the virtual relationship thingie are as follow:
1) Vampire eggs. Eggs not laid by Juri & Shizuka. *is shot* XD
2) 12 years old Yuuki and 13 years old Zero, so, just after Cross brings him to live with them. (Though in the image, they look even smaller because both were tiny back then. XD)
3) Zero & Yuuki entering highschool.
4) Highschool life, and Zero's woes with gross handmade chocolate etc. XD
5) Surprise... ;) Can't exactly go revealing everything, now, can I? XD

The different stages more or less have a relation to events of the manga. (Although since it's a virtual pet, it's less serious and more cutesy & happy. ;D)
So for example, in the stage where Yuuki and Zero are respectively 12 and 13, it shows her doing the thing of covering his neck because of how he feels Shizuka's bite there, and so on. ^^/

I was tempted to post images of the different stages, but that would kind of ruin the fun of looking forward to finding out what it looks like... XD So maybe later or something. XD

Edit: I made a separate post for the images. You can either wait until yours has leveled up all the way, and then look to see the images better, or you can go there anyway in case you don't mind the spoiler. ^^/ (It's way more fun if you wait until it's revealed in the leveling up itself though. X3)

And needless to say, VK vampires normally are canonically born from female vampires and not from eggs... but well, it's a virtual pet! XD *lol*

Incidentally, "mini virtual relationship companion" is horribly long, and I don't really want to call them "mascots" because in my mind those are the animated ones who do so much more and that live in the computer and not just on a signature or post etc, so I don't want to mix it up and get it all a confusing mess... XD;

So I might just call them the "relationship thingies". 8DDD;;; *lol*

Sadly, because normally virtual pets are individual creatures, the website's thing of asking you to assing a gender doesn't works so well for a couple... XD;;
But oh well, I guess we can ignore that and just pick either. Or you can put your own gender if you prefer. :)


I'll be releasing a Kaname x Yuuki one once I'm less dead and have some time.
^__^/(i.e., 'some time' that hopefully won't involve skipping sleep etc. to have time. XD *lol*)

And perhaps I'll also make a Zero x Kaname x Yuuki one some time too if I can figure out a way to make the details not invisible due to being so tiny. ^^;

Inevitably, I MUST make a Zero x Kaname one sometime too. XD
Or maybe I'll just have the individual ones to be placed side by side, that way there's more details since there's more room. X3

I made icons btw, I'll post when I have time to make a table etc. ^^/


And unrelatedly, if you go to my profile on Squiby, you'll see that under the category "adopted", it doesn't shows my Kaname. T^T
It's because I adopted him before I made a profile there... and then adopted Zero after making one, so they recorded Zero but Kaname stayed out, the poor thing. ;-; *clings to them* (The ones in the post I made the other day.)
I should have made the account first perhaps. D: *angsts about them being separated* XD;;; *lol*

I'm rambling more and more. XD

If you've seen the previous post, you know I've finally found out about virtual pets that you can paste on a post or a signature. :D

Well, they're light-years faster and easier to make than the animated mascots that live in your PC like the little Kaname I made a while ago, so I'm all hyper with it and totally wanting to make some too, since it should be way less time consuming. X33
(*is still working on the chibi Zero animated mascot, btw.* ^^/)

I plan to make individual character ones too, of course, but I had also the idea of making relationship mini-games... well, kind off, they're not really a "game" per se as you already know the results ahead of time and all, but... they are a relationship in its different stages, from "hatching" to conclusion. :DD
(No, not smut conclusion. *LOL* XD)

So currently the plan is to make a Kaname x Yuuki one and a Zero x Yuuki one. :D

People will get to pick with relationship they want to adopt, and then see if blossom over time as they click and the characters level up. X3 (Just like the other vortual pets, but with the relationship aspect. :D)

The same thing happens reversed in the KxY one. ^^/ (As in, there's a ZxY stage along the way.)

The only problem is that the maximum size those can have is tiny, so it's not super easy to see. *weeps at all the loss of details*
The image above is a WAAAAAAAAAAAY bigger version of the illustration I did for the virtual pet thingie. :X
But it should still be possible to see. :D

I guess this is where the individual characters have the upper hand over the relationship pets, in that when it's just one character it's easier to make it bigger and thus less problematic to see the details. XD *lol*


In any case, hopefully it will all be cute once it's ready to be adopted, and fellow fans will have fun with it. XD ♥

And as of now, we don't know Kaito's hair color, so this is merely a guess. :)
(I drew Zero's hair a bit longer because it seems to have grown over the past year and be closer to Ichiru's lenght.<3)

In a way, Kaito is an agent of chaos... but then again, many of those believe they are acting on reestablishing balance rather than worsening the already existing chaos.

I should have put them in the ball outfits... but by the time I thought that, I'd already drawn Yori's uniform, so I put Zero in one too, and Kaito is some sort of suit as a teacher.
Somewhere along the road, this caused my brain to lag and Zero ended up wearing his jacket closed like he did a while ago at the school ball. 8D;;; (But with the messy tie etc as usual. XD;)
Ah well. XD; *lol*

Err, Yori is not touching herself. XD;;; She's just holding her hands in front of herself.

Please ignore the messiness of the pic, it was a sudden fanart urge and a quick drawing to quench said urge. XD
It came along with a fic idea, but I'm not sure yet if/when I'll write an one-shot for it. ^^

It starts with Kaito using Yori as bait to try and incriminate the vampires and create an occasion for a legitimate attack against them, just as we've seen at the ball in the manga... but from there it goes AU into the fic idea. ^^

And if anyone is interested in the fic idea I mentioned, this is more or less what its about:
It's AU, and while Kaito admits to Zero that he's using Yori as bait like in the manga, in the fic he's secretly planning to have the whole mess go down with Zero causing a diplomatic incident and becoming the scapegoat for the Hunter Association to be able to kill the Kurans while still looking all clean. (With this, Zero would also lose the future presidency, and Kaito would be a potential candidate too... Thus having Zero conveniently rid them of the Kurans and of himself all at once. Yagari doesn't knows of that plot, neither does Cross of course.)

It fails due to Zero's feelings for Yuuki, and while the two are busy (not with smut XD XD *lol* it's all dramatic XD), Kaito succeeds in luring Kaname away using Yori as a hostage. (By then, Kaito and Kaname realized Zero won't kill Yuuki, hence why Kaito takes matters into his own hands, and why Kaname leaves Yuuki with Zero while trying to save Yori.)

But by the time Kaname finds Yori and Kaito, it's just in time to see Kaito slit her throat and throw her at him, leaving Kaname with no choices but turn her into a vampire or let her die in his arms... Kaito expects that Kaname won't let Yuuki's best friend die, but if Kaname bites her, even to save her, they will declare that he attacked her, and condemn him, as Yori being turned would be the perfect proof...

And I won't say the whole story of the fic in case I write the fic. XD; *lol*

PLEASE keep in mind this is a fic idea and thus not related to canon. ^^;
(Mentioning this just in case. XD;)

We don't know yet what exactly Kaito is planning in the manga, aside from using Yori as bait to create an occasion for Zero to kill legally... which in itself is worrisome enough, but yeah. :X

I'm hesitating to write the fic, because Kaito is the villain in it and quite hardcore at it, so it could be quite AU but... considering that he did use Yori as bait in canon, maybe it's okay to have him as villain since it's just an one-shot fic and all. XD;;

(Even if it's just a fic. XD;; Ah well...it's AU anyway though. XD;; *lol*)

Unrelatedly, I had a fit of idiocy and made up a girly uniform, instead of putting them both in Night Class girl's outfits. EPIC FAIL.

Also unrelatedly, Kaname's got as much chest as Yuuki.... and yet he's still doing better than Aidou-chan. XD Her chest is counted in the A negative category if such a thing exists. XD XD


And onto a funny subject: "Kaname" is an unisex name. In fact... it's used more often for girls than boys! ;)
So is "Haruka", btw... XD

And "Yuuki" can also be a boy's name! (Spelled with a different meaning than "gentle princess", obviously. XD XD)
(Must be a Kuran tradition, to have the guy be uke to the girl. XD)


I have a more detailed AU idea with gender switch, this roach AU is unrelated and just for fun. XD
I might make the more detailed one into a short fic series sometime. It's about the love triangle as in VK, but with Zero & Kaname being both girls and in love for Yuuki, who's a boy (and the school's playboy? XD).
Aside from the gender switch, the personalities are similar, Zero being tsundere like whoa and Kaname being totally uke to Yuuki and super clingy. XD

I haven't written it yet due to lack of time & the fact I don't have yet a clear idea of where the plot would go. (Aside from straight into smut. XD *lol*)
